Finding Confidence, Landing a Job: Rama's Career Journey with Humans in the Loop
When Rama Hamada, a Syrian graduate of English Literature, began searching for ways to strengthen her career prospects, she knew she needed guidance. Looking for an online program that could help her build professional skills from home, she came across Humans in the Loop Foundation’s Career Counselling Program.
“I was looking for something to help me improve myself from home… and Humans in the Loop Foundation was one of the strongest recommendations I received.”
Like many early-career professionals, Rama faced challenges that went beyond technical qualifications. She lacked confidence in interviews, struggled to showcase her strengths on her CV, and wasn’t sure how to build a professional online presence through LinkedIn.
Through personalized one-on-one counselling sessions, she worked closely with HITL’s Social Mediator to identify her strengths, improve her CV, optimize her LinkedIn profile, and prepare for interviews. Rather than simply rewriting documents, the sessions focused on helping her better understand her own skills and communicate them with authenticity.
“The first session helped me learn more about myself – my soft skills, my hard skills, and how to present them honestly.”
One of the biggest transformations came in the way Rama approached job applications. Previously, she relied on AI tools to generate generic skills for her CV. During the programme, she learned how to create a professional CV that genuinely reflected her experience and abilities.
“I sent the CV we worked on together to one company. They immediately invited me for an interview, and I got the job.”
Beyond helping her secure employment, the programme also strengthened her confidence. As someone who describes herself as naturally introverted, interviews have always been intimidating. By practising how to present herself professionally and preparing for common interview scenarios, she developed the confidence to speak about her experience with more clarity and confidence.
“I still feel a little shy, but now I trust myself. I know that I can do it.”
The impact extended beyond Rama herself. Inspired by what she had learned, she has already helped one friend improve their CV and LinkedIn profile and has recommended the Career Counselling Program to five other people in her network.
“I really wish everyone who wants to improve themselves would join this programme because they will find the missing parts.”
Reflecting on her experience, Rama describes the programme as a turning point in her professional journey.
“It’s the most helpful thing that I have ever done in my whole career.”
